Pressing Matters magazine - Issue 17
Sometimes there’s nothing better than rolling up your sleeves, putting on your apron and finding your flow – be that through an almost meditative carving session or simply mixing and testing ink. Printmaking has so many benefits for your well-being, it’s no surprise that this issue is full of messages of hope and positive change.
It’s amazing how even the newest student of printmaking can learn so much and be able to share what they know almost immediately. It’s a common theme in these pages – the artist as maker and educator. Sharing both the challenges and the triumphs is something we see regularly on social media and in the print studio – and it is this willingness to share and the openness of the community that makes printmaking such a great playground for ideas.
And it’s these ideas that have blown us away (again) for our latest insert and featured artist gallery – the variety of topics and techniques in our ‘Black & Yellow’ challenge is something we’ve found truly inspiring. We hope that the stories of creativity running through this edition get you reaching for your apron and inks, and in turn, making some printmaking magic of your own.
