Holly & Co is abuzz with many businesses and their innovative, colourful, fresh and quirky things to delight the eye. Have you also seen The Home of Small Businesses a whole house full of the Holly & Cos products, curated and art directed, with room tours, discussions and inspiration springing from there. A whole hub of nourishing content that can only grow and grow! Im currently hooked on Holly Tucker’s podcasts too Conversations of Inspiration- so much food for thought, especially as we all navigate similar life/family/work challenges.
..it started with Christmas cards, some t-shirts for presents - and then a market stall a few weeks before Christmas. And then we popped-up a mini shop in the delicious Harp Lane Deli, Ludlow, Shropshire - our home town for 8 years. And then the penny dropped! By assembling our wares in a lovely space, gave us the chance to see how we looked as a retail proposition and we liked it! We got to make things we like and get to meet people who like what we do. The perfect antidote to years of working in media, computers, commuters, in offices, long hours, all nighters. Now at least our all nighters are physical, active work - not hunch backed screen burners - not getting any...
We have 10 boards printed with Devon in the shop now. They will be £80 each (pickup in person only) and we have some ply mount racks, belly wax, fridge magnets and booklets to browse too - so pop by if you want to slide a few waves in style!
We are looking forward to welcoming our third pop up guest, local artist Alex Murdin, who is coming to take over our shop on the 5th until the 10th April 2023. For about a year Alex has been drawing the stones that make up some of the lesser known Bronze Age stone circles and rows on Dartmoor.
Quite by accident I made my early images drawing with Windsor and Newton Indian ink onto acetate - like the OK you see here - it retains exactly the marks first drawn. In fact this is what sparked my interest in Screenprinting - as an illustrator and lover of fluid mark making - i was delighted I could capture this fresh line and then print with it so easily.
